Spiritual Direction
Spiritual Direction comes out of the Benedictine monastic tradition and is a way of helping one another grow deeper into the fullness of Christ. It is a way to live out the Apostle Paul’s burden for the Galatians that “Christ be formed in you” (Galatians 4:19). The Spiritual Director is a prayerful listener who asks discerning questions to help you see how God is present in the situations and circumstances of your life.
In the words of Trappist monk Thomas Merton “ A Spiritual Director is, then, one who helps another to recognize and to follow the inspirations of grace in his life in order to arrive at the end to which God is leading him” Spiritual Direction and Meditation, pp. 16-17
Spiritual Direction is confidential and begins with a covenant agreement and a testing time of 3 months. This gives the director and directee time to adjust to each other and decide if it is a fruitful relationship. Direction usually happens on a monthly basis for one hour. There is an agreed on price per session based on ability to pay but no one is ever turned away. Click to view the Spiritual Direction Brochure and the Covenant for Spiritual Direction.
““Spiritual direction is, in reality, nothing more than a way of leading us to see and obey the real Director — the Holy Spirit hidden in the depths of our soul.””
